My goal was to recreate the flamethrower from the Fallout 4 video game. I have always loved the aesthetic styling of the weapons in the fallout world. It’s so easy to believe that your character cobbled together his weapons from scraps found while wandering. I tried to stay true to this imagery and subsequently used a fire extinguisher tank as the gasoline tank and a propane torch to be the pilot light. A paintball canister serves as the pressurizing mechanism for the gasoline and the a power washer handle controls the nozzle. The whole contraption is held together by angle iron I found around the shop I work out of so it truly is a pieced together torch. 

It shoots a flame about 30 ft and I ended up having the local fire department called when a neighboring shop saw me lighting some crates on fire in the parking lot over the weekend lol!
